The hazy, black and white images of forests and mountains that adorn the cover of their debut LP Electronic Music From The Swedish Leftcoast seem to somehow suit the wobbly, wistful semantics of their nom-de-disque, hinting simultaneously at the dreamily organic contents that lie within. The LP unwinds in a similarly rustic manner. The smudged, glacial "Blue", the trumpet-enhanced "Seasons" (the first single from the LP), the insouciant harmonies on "Song", the shimmering disco tendrils of "Jabo's Night Out" and the soft-as-snowflake funk of "Shimmer", all conjure up unashamed feelings of well-being and optimism and make for a thoroughly addictive record.
Lying somewhere between the whispered grooves of Herbert, the quirkiness of Isolee and the lush depth of Naked Music, it's the sound of deep house getting its kit off and running joyously through the hills.

Plej are brothers Arvid & Erik Niklasson from Gothenburg on the west coast of Sweden. Arvid & Erik started Plej as a label in January 2001 releasing a 12" with Arvids' music on one side and Erik’s (Eerik) on the other. This was a very limited version, if you own one you have one percent of the edition! Although Plej started as a label for the brothers to release their material, they soon realized that they had more fun making music than they did trying to get people to buy it. So, the label name became the brand and more music was made. The Plej sound is characterized by a playful, soft, melodic and experimental approach to house music. Soft club orientated house opens up to experimental deep house that incorporates melodies. The brothers cite the likes of Herbert, Forcetracks and Isolee as inspiration, outlining the desire to create music that is interesting and unpredictable. In the live situation Arvid (synths) and Erik (Rhodes piano) are joined by vocalist Jonatan Bäckelie and Johan Brengesjö on trumpet.
