Shadow ArtistsI have never experienced an art form more all consuming than graffiti. At one point, graffiti had a very firm grip on my life and lifestyle -it was the last thing on my mind before going to bed and the first thing that came into my head every morning. From acquiring supplies and photographing a finished work, to wandering the city trying to find the perfect spot to paint and marking the terrain along the way, graffiti motivated almost every move I made. Even perils with the law, fights with rival writers and injuries sustained while out on missions couldn't have ended my relationship with graffiti. I still love it to this day...

Q: Let's start off by talking about the concept of digging back into your own catalog and remixing almost all of it. Seems like quite an undertaking. What spawned the idea of doing this?

DJ Krush: It's simply because it's boring to release just a "best of" album, so I wanted it to reflect who I am right now, not who I was when these songs came out the first time.

"Dark Days"

New Akai MPC2500 Announced

MPC 2000We knew there was something afoot and Numark, the new owners of the Akai brand, unveiled the latest in the MPC range at London's PLASA show this week. The MPC2500 is the successor to the MPC200XL, featuring the formers classic user interface and building from there. It features velocity and pressure sensitive pads, twin onboard effects processors and an additional send for outboard effects, Q-Link controllers, plus 10 outputs and an S/PDIF digital output.
